One of this colonies would be forever be remembered in history for its contributions as the connector between the Native Americans and British power. In 1607, Jamestown was one of many colonies that European nation-states placed in the Americas’ to gain greater wealth and influence than what they many have in Europe. The goal of Jamestown was for its men establish a trading relationship with the Indians, but three quarters of the men died within the first nine months due to disease, famine, warfare, and laziness. The colonists desperately riled on the Native Americans for food and supplies. The relationship between Pocahontas and John Rolfe allowed ties to be connected between the colonists and the Native Americans, but Powhatan expected tribute from the colonists which would eventually create tension and start a war between the two.
