jan 1, 1555 - Peace of Augsburg (1555)
Description:
Description:
Charles V defeated the protestant armies, which alarmed the Pope and France, who worked together. This caused the Pope to withdraw papal support from Charles V, showing that the pope prioritised political power, rather than religious, as Charles V was catholic. France sent money and soldiers to aid the Lutherans. Eventually peace was established and Lutheranism and Catholicism became tolerated religions.
