Semmelweis went ahead and spoke at the podium of the Vienna medical society's lecture hall and told a speech summed up in 3 words. "Wash your hands." This may seem simple now, but not many knew the importance of sanitation back then. With these three simple words Semmelweis saved countless lives, a lot of those occurring with mothers ready to give birth. Sanitation had a huge effect on Childbed Fever.
