sep 30, 1810 - War Hawks
Description:
Warhawks (1810):
The War Hawks were young Southerners and Westerners elected to the U.S. Congress in 1810 who wanted to go to war with Great Britain. Mostly from the Northwest and Florida, the War Hawks despised how America fared in the Napoleonic wars and were also furious at the British encouragement of Indian hostility towards settlers and hoped to use war with England to obtain Florida from Spain, which was one of Britain’s allies. The War Hawks were among the primary reasons for the War of 1812.
