dec 2, 1823 - Monroe Doctrine
Description:
Monroe Doctrine (December 2, 1823):
James Monroe used this doctrine to declare that the Old World and New World should stay separate. He said that the United States would not take part in European relations or wars and it would not mess with existing colonies in the Western Hemisphere. He also said that the Western Hemisphere was closed to future colonization, and any action taken to seize power over territory in the Western Hemisphere would be viewed as an act against the United States.
