Description:

Because of Austria's military presence and influence in northern France and their political denial of France's new governmental state, the Legislative Assembly declared war on Austria. While the war appeared to be advantageous for the French in the beginning and a flex of military dominance for the newly reformed nation, the war against the Austrians fell flat when the Austrians allied themselves with the Prussians. French resources and finances were pushed to their extremes, causing disorganization and supply lines for military forces to be strained. This war, as disastrous as it was showing, led to the dissolution of the Legislative Assembly.
