aug 7, 1964 - Tonkin Gulf Resolution
Description:
The Tonkin Gulf incident was what fully brought the US into the war. US ships were deployed into the gulf and they supposedly came under attack by the North and LBJ used it as an excuse to gain war power and deploy troops into Vietnam. The accusations seemed far fetched from the beginning and there was no solid proof to go against it.
This incident would ultimately lead the US joining the war and backing the South in their war against the VC and the NVA.
