Description:

In 1983 scientists discovered the virus that causes AIDS. People that are most at risk are men who have sex with men, people who inject drugs (PWID), sex workers, children, prisoners, transgender people, women, and young people/adolescents. AIDS was known as the "Gay Cancer" and was also called GRID (gay related immunodeficiency disorder. It is a blood-borne pathogen like Ebola meaning it has infectious microbes present in the blood that can cause infection. It is transmitted through sexual contact, pregnancy, childbirth, breast feeding, injection drug use, occupational exposure, and blood transfusions/organ transplants.
