jan 1, 1644 - Fall of the Ming Empire
Description:
The Ming Empire had been facing internal problems for a century (agriculture suffered due to the Little Ice Age, and disorder & inefficiency in manufacturing led to unrest and strikes), but it finally fell after the Imjin War, when its former Manchu allies turned on the Ming and took over. The symbol is Chinese for the word betrayal, representing how the Manchus turned on the Ming after the war ended.
