In 1947 the first case was reported in Uganda in a Rhesus monkey

Symptoms:
-causes microcephaly in newborn babies
-73% of people are asymptomatic
-headdache
-rash
-fever
-symptoms similar to the flu


Treatment:
-Avoid unprotected sex with the possibly infected
-supportive care for children born with microcephaly

History:
-1947 first reported case in Rhesus monkey
-1969 cases began appearing in Nigeria
-2013 french Polynesia had 35000 cases
-2016 Zika has spread to United States
