sep 30, 1676 - Bacon's Rebellion
Description:
Bacon’s Rebellion (1676):
Bacon's Rebellion was an armed rebellion in 1676 by Virginian frontier settlers led by Nathaniel Bacon against the rule of Governor William Berkeley and the Tidewater Planters. About one thousand Virginians rose up because they hated Berkeley's friendly policies towards the Native Americans. Because of this, the government in Virginia became frightened by the threat of Civil War. Bacon's Rebellion was the first real rebellion in the American Colonies, but definitely not the last.
