Description:

It was lead by a group of African American and whites from the north. Their goal was to get more people to vote in Mississippi. It drew attention to how poorly African Americans were treated. It was brought on by the fact that in 1962, 5% of black Mississippians were registered to vote. They hoped to remedy this.
