In Lowndes County, Alabama community members create the Lowndes County Freedom Organization Black Panther Party--in an attempt to exercise political agency and have representation. In a county that was 83% Black there was not one Black representative. They were later joined by the Student Non Violence Coordinating Committee who helped the LCFO Black Panther Party organize community involvement and registration to vote.Added to timeline:
