oct 3, 1965 - 1965 Immigration Act

Description:

Established a new immigration policy based on reuniting families of immigrants and skilled laborers to the US. Abolished national origins quota by allowing 20,000 per nation. This ended the Chinese Confession program and didn't resort to a specific gender, which allowed female immigration networks to develop. Allowed numbers of Korean War Brides to migrate, increased Filipino women through marriage, and allow influx of graduate students from South Asia.
