As Andrew Jackson wins in a landslide in the election of 1828. The Democratic party was structured in a militaristic fashion all for the purpose of raising Andrew Jackson's popularity. Martin van Buren was vice president. All Democratic officials gained government jobs due to "spoils of war" and helping him get elected.
