Description:
First recorded reference to leprosy was from Egypt in 1550 BC
Symptoms:
-First indicator is a spot that is a slightly different color than your skin tone
-Second indicator is loss of feeling and hair loss in infected site.
-Third indicator is tissue and nerve damage
-Long term leprosy causes the body to break down bone and extremities slowly diminish
Treatment:
-medications exist that can cure many aspects of leprosy within months
-medications do not bring back what is already lost
-Avoid close contact with infected and armadillos
History:
-Old disease that appears all throughout history and is in the bible 68 times.
-1873 the cause was discovered
-1982 treatment was created
-2012 the infection has dropped 97% since 1982
