Description:
MERS, also known as "Middle Easy Respiratory Syndrome", was discovered in 2012 when the virus jumped from camels to humans.
Symptoms:
-Fever, cough, shortness of breath, aches, diarrhea, nausea, malaise
-severe cases can lead to pneumonia and kidney failure
Treatment:
-No current vaccine for MERS
-voiding the Arabian peninsula, camels, and good hygiene can lower chances of becoming infected.
History:
-2012, November - The first case is identified and named
-2013, May - MERS becomes official name
-2015, May - travel brought MERS to S. Korea starting an outbreak
-2014 - first confirmed case in USA
