Description:

The final 40 minute Smash Bros. direct featured Ken Masters from the Street Fighter series joining the fight as an echo fighter and Incineroar from Pokèmon: Sun and Moon joining as a unique fighter in the beginning cinematic trailer. This proved the Grinch leak fake. We were introduced to a new mode named Spirits. It was similar to Smash 4's custom system, with a few twists of its own. We got a look at some new stages, mii costumes, and amiibo. There was a segment of the online mode, and that it would be better connection, GSP, and rankings. Elite Smash was introduced, and that it would be high ranked players facing off, and Nintendo would use that gameplay to make improvements and fixes in the future. DLC was announced, and it was very similar to Smash 4's. If you bought the Fighter Pass (All 5 fighters) you would get an exclusive Rex Mii costume. If you would buy the game before January 31, you would a brand new fighter, Piranha Plant, from the Super Mario series. Before the direct came to a close, we got a glimpse of the brand new adventure mode, World of Light. Galeem, the lord of light, has taken over the world and every fighter. Kirby, the only one remaining, must save the fighters and defeat Galeem.
