Description:
An experiment in which Jenner took pus from a sore of a cowpox infected by a woman named Sarah Nelmes and applied it to a small scratches on a arm of a eight-year-old boy who had never before contracted either smallpox or cowpox. The young boy recovered as expected. This type of treatment is known as variolation.
