dec 5, 2016 - Hugh Stevenson, a former youth football coach and top-flight assistant referee, is accused of a catalogue of child sex offences in Scotland by Peter Haynes. Stevenson died in 2004. Haynes says he reported the allegations to the police in 1993 and 1996 and also warned the SFA, but said he was never told of any outcome. The account of the systematic abuse he suffered at the hands of an SFA employee is harrowing. Two further victims would come forward to tell of abuse they suffered from Stevenson

Stevenson coached at clubs including Eastercraigs Boys’ Club, Glasgow; Paisley amateur side Ferguslie United; and Cowdenbeath.The SFA have been accused of failing to protect youngsters after allowing Stevenson to continue to coach despite being made aware of the claims against him.
