was the closest to the planet Jupiter on 12/4/73the Pioneer mission was the first to be sent to the outer solar system and also the first to send back data from Jupiter. the last time that Pioneer 10 was heard from was on the 23 of January, 2003. the Pioneer 10 was launched with an Atlas-Centaur rocket and weighed 568.79 pounds.
