may 15, 1857 - ID 7, Dred Scott v. Standford

Description:

This was a court case that was based around whether or not Americans from African descent could sue in federal court. Dred Scott was obviously against the racial segregation of the time, and was trying to fight against it. However the court ruled that Americans of African descent could not vote and that slavery would still be kept in place. This court case indirectly paved the wave for the civil rights act of 1964.
