jul 12, 1992 - Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Description:

During his run for presidency, Bill Clinton promised to lift the ban on Gays and Lesbians in the military. He couldn't get enough support for this to happen, so in 1993, he created the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. DADT allowed gays and lesbians in the military, but only if they weren't open with their sexuality. This policy helped gays and lesbians get into the military, but it didn't save them from being discharged on account of their sexuality.
