jan 18, 1715 - Thanadelthur negotiates peace
Description:
After escaping the Cree, Dene woman Thanadelthur arrives at York Factory where she meets Chief Factor, James Knight. Knight hopes to expand the HBC fur trading territory to the northern lands of the Dene. Thanadelthur convinces the Knight that a peace treaty between the Dene and Cree is necessary to promote trade. She journeys with HBC employee William Stuart and Cree representatives to negotiate a peace treaty with the Dene. This leads to northern trade at Fort Prince of Wales, in what is now known as Manitoba.
