aug 6, 1965 - Voting Rights Act of 1965

Description:

This act made it easier for black people to register to vote by eliminating literacy tests, however the poll tax was not yet eliminated. President Johnson was a key person in this because he was the one who passed the act and it was passed in Washington DC. One cause of this was from the Freedom Summer and the progression of civil rights movement and one effect was the ability of more black people to be able to vote.
