Description:
SC case saying that blacks were property and did not count as citizens and couldn’t sue the federal courts.
People involved: Scott (black slave) and Sanford (wife of person who bought Scott and refused to give him his freedom)
Where: Missouri SC and National SC
Cause: Scott and his family were moved to a state where slavery was banned, so he sought his freedom. Sanford refused, and it went to court(s).
Effect: Congress was also told it could not ban slavery
