Whitefeather uses the term "mooneyes" to refer to Shadestar and Goldfur. Whitefeather believes that Scorchflower spending time with them will turn her mooneyed as well. Goldfur finds this extremely offensive and tells Whitefeather to go away. Scorchflower asks what the term means, and Goldfur explains that it means a she-cat who is in love with another she-cat. She explains the term "suneyes" as well, to refer to a tom who likes toms. Scorchflower is shocked, first because she didn't know that was an option, and second because Whitefeather called Shadestar mooneyed. She asks Shadestar, who explains her relations with Lilystar.
