jan 1, 1979 - One Child Policy
Description:
China's One Child Policy was first instated in 1979 to replace the Two Child Policy that was in place for the last decade. The policy aimed to control the population growth of China. The policy gave few exceptions such as farmers whose first child was a daughter, and many families were still able to have two children until the policy's end in 2015.
