jul 1, 1968 - Cultural Revolution
Description:
The Cultural Revolution or the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution was a major change in China’s Communist Party by Mao Zedong. He was afraid that the Communist party would end up like Russia’s, and because of the failure from the Great Leap Forward, he lost part of his authority. Forcing other communist leaders out of power and into jail, Mao replaced them with more loyal thinkers and restablished his power over the government. Mao emphasized the problem in China to the youth, instigating a movement of idealists. The students formed groups known as the Red Guards which attacked the elderly and intellects.
