Description:
A plan implemented by Mao Zedong to quicken the industrial growth of China to advance as much as the west. Instead of following the Soviet model for economic development, Mao decided to hasten the process with labor-intensive work. He sought to progress China into a collectivist society and an industrial economy. The result of this failed, millions of people died because of food shortages.
