sep 30, 1419 - Zheng He's expeditions

Description:

1405 CE - 1433 CE Zheng He’s expeditions were a series of explorations into the Indian Ocean basin. Zheng He commanded this, as he led a large fleet made up of Junks (large Chinese vessels). These expeditions were backed by the Yongle Emperor and helped establish a firm Chinese stance and control throughout the Indian Ocean basin, specifically in Indian Ocean trade. The voyages stopped after Zheng He’s death, which resulted in all the vessels being destroyed as the new emperor had no use for such sizable vessels.
