The Mexican-American War which spanned from 1846 to 1848 between the United States and Mexico, fulfilled America's "manifest destiny" in a way by helping expand territory across the whole North American continent. One cause of the war was slavery. Americans from the south wanted to gain more "slave states" in order to increase their political power. After to the Mexican-American War, Mexico suffered from many internal difficulties.
