Colonization by the Europeans began in 1492, when a Spanish Ship lead by Italian Christopher Columbus sailed West from Europe, seeking new land and trade route. It unintentionally landed in the New World, which was later named as America. On the day of December 5, 1492, the ship landed on a part of the North American island "Hispaniola". This impact lead to the first colony in 1607 and the birth of America.
