Description:
This was an economic movement led by Mao Zedong in 1958 to transfer from an agricultural society to a socialist society. While it pushed for rural industralization and collectivization, it was largely believed as the cause of the Great Chinese Famine. This movement killed upwards of 55 million people according to Chinese historians.
