Description:
It was a bill passed to granting Missouri statehood as a slave free sate under condition that slavery was forever prohibited in the rest of the Louisiana Purchase north of the 36th parallel. It was approximately along the southern border of Missouri. An effort to preserve the balance of power in congress between slave and free states. It was replaced by the Kansas-Nebraska Act.
