It was also known as the Transcontinental Treaty or Florida Treaty. It was a treaty between the United States and Spain in 1819 that ceded Florida to the U.S.. It defined the boundary between the U.S. and New Spain. The United States and Spain defined the western limits of the Louisiana Purchase and Spain surrendered its claim to the Pacific northwest.
