Description:

November 21, 1806 Napoleon issues the Berlin decree which proclaimed a blockade of Great Britain by France, European neutrals, and her allies. It used the Continental system to attempt to ruin Great Britain's economy through commerce. This lead to the British to retaliate with the Order in Council that subjugated France, and all trading partners of France to a naval blockade..including the United States. This is seen as one of the causes to the War of 1812.
