aug 21, 486 BC - The Grand Canal
Description:
The Grand Canal was built to transport goods from the Yangtze to northern China. Though it was built by the Sui Dynasty, a lot of it was rebuilt later by the Ming Dynasty.
The importance of the Grand Canal is it helped transport grain to the parts of China that were very populated. Without it, the inter-societal transport might not have been so beneficial to China.
