Malaysia’s New Economic Policy (NEP) was introduced in 1970 resulted from the May 13 1969 crisis. Its aims was to eradicate poverty and restructure the society. It also gave special assistance for the Bumiputera community and as a result, the Malays were benefited with greater business participation, education opportunities and public sector employment and promotion which led to the creation of middle class community among the Malays.
