sep 5, 1951 - “Rhyme in Time”
‒ Hedwig Aroozoo
[Poetry]
Description:
This poem protests the colonisation in Malaya/Singapore. The first part satirises the good life of a British woman. The portrayal of female coloniser means that women can be equally bad as male colonisers when they are materialistic and capitalistic. She seems to pretend that the natives only have time for merry-making without even realising the harsh life they have (Faridah & Quayum, 2003).
