Description:
When prerparing for the Four Power SUmmit Khrushchev learnt that the USSR had shot down a U-2 plane. The pilot - Gary Powers, parachuted to safety but was arrested. SOviets accused USA of spying. USA first denied it was a spying mission then later did. Eisenhowler refused to apologise and led to Khrushchev not attending the summit and therefore worsening relations.Added to timeline:
