jan 1, 451 - Council of Chalcedon
Description:
This council was called to settle the dispute between Eutychus and Nestorius over the term “theotokos” or “God-bearer” as applied to Mary. It produced a “definition of faith” regarding Christ’s two natures. This council effectively produced a 3-way split between the Alexandrian Church, the Western Church, and the Church of the East.
