feb 8, 1870 - Ontario School for the Deaf (OSD)

Description:

In 1870, Ontario established a boarding school for deaf children. It was the second province in Canada to have an institution for deaf students. For now, the main mode of instruction is sign language. This also allowed for deaf culture to flourish and expand as well. (Ellis, 2014, p. 375).
