jul 25, 1967 - Common Council Meeting
Description:
Youth Council was allowed to join the Common Council Chambers meeting and Father Groppi was allowed to speak on the issue of unfair housing. Of course aldermen of the Common Council were more concerned about whether he should have been allowed to talk than what he actually had to say. In his talk, Groppi warned about rioting that he predicted would occur with the lack of response from the Common Council. Days later, media and other higher ups got a say on what they thought about Father Groppi and his opinions; Anderson (one of the aldermen) phoned the Archbishop demanding Groppi be sent to Panama. Anderson was approached by reporters and refused to talk, ripping the microphone from its cord, according to the news company.
