Description:

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is a group of countries that uphold peace and security. It created a platform that allowed Canada to help/receive help from other countries in NATO. In 1949, there were twelve countries (Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, UK, USA) in the alliance. This showed other countries that the Canadian Government cares about its county and wanted peace. Creating an alliance with these countries set a good example.
