aug 13, 1898 - End of the Spanish-American war

Description:

This shows the beginning of Spain's downfall. The Spanish-American war began due to yellow journalism being used in the U.S. Journalists used yellow journalism to convince that Spain had destroyed the USS Maine, killing many soldiers. Their downfall is due to them giving the U.S Puerto Rico, Spain, and the Philippines after the war ended. They gave America their land because they lost the war. The war was decided when they lost the Battle of San Juan Hill. In Spain's downfall, it was America's rise to power.
