jan 21, 1924 - Stalin’s 5 Year plans and collectivization
Description:
Stalin's plan to collectivize was an attempt to take individual plots of agricultural land and create communal farms. This centrally planned economy allowed for a massive rate of production but at an extreme cost of human life. This was built off the previous russian system where plots of land were individually owned. Many area’s went along with stalin’s attempts but many other area’s rejected it and the government promptly punished them, this lead to the event known as the Holodomor where 6 million people starved to death after the russian government took their food. This is a clear move to the left as it follows the principle of public property, one of the basic building blocks of collectivist ideology.
