in 1845 Richard Wagner read his Lohengrin poem to a private circle of friends. Some of those friends were (Schumann, Hiller, Robert Reinick, Gottried Semper. Schumann was kind of upset when he told Mendelssohn that he was thinking of the same thing and now he has to start all over. Lohengrin was completed in 1848 but wasn't published until 1852. It was first premiered on August 28, 1850 it is performed in German and based on Medieval German Romance.
