Franz Schubert was an Austrian composer born January 31, 1797. At a young age, he displayed the ability to play multiple instruments and excel at them. First, he attended school for vocals but after his voice broke he began to attend instrumental training. He worked as school assistant for 4 years, simultaneously writing music and piano pieces. Schubert got a job as a music director in 1826 and continued to write pieces. Franz did not gain true recognition until after his death in 1828. His lyrical and poetic abilities surpassed the majority of others of his time and without his work the bridge between Classical and Romantic music may have never been reached.
