In a CBS interview, Tyson recounts the story of how, as a young boy around age ten, his interest was first sparked in space. Tyson and his friend had been playing around with a pair of binoculars when his friend told him to try looking up. He did and pointed the lenses at the moon, to revel at the landscape he discovered. Ever since then he was fascinated with space, and went to an astronomy-focused highschool to pursue his interest (Gale, 2008).
